Recommended SmallVessel Route

Oban offers yachts a delightful marina, moorings and a very handy transit berthing facility at North Pier. Oban can be approached from the south through the tranquil and scenic Sound of Kerrera, or, more directly via the north entrance. If using the north entrance please be aware that about 20000 large commercial vessels are using this entrance annually and have right of way over all small vessel in the large vessel channel. There is plenty of sea room between the edges of the large vessel channel and the shore for small vessels. Please plan you route before entering Oban and keep a good lookout at all times.
