NOTHING COMPARES TO SEEING SCOTLAND FROM THE WATER, but it is not only for the most experienced of sailors. Join a yacht charter, a sailing school excursion or hire a skippered vessel to take you on a magical journey exploring Scotland’s coastline. For the more adventurous, there are RYA courses where you can learn the ropes (and knots) giving you the confidence to go your own way.

For qualified skippers, bareboat charter is usually the preferred option as this allows you to cruise at your own pace with a group of friends, family or colleagues. It is a cost-effective way of sailing in some of the best waters in the world on the yacht best suited to your own personal needs. The majority of Scottish yacht charter companies are located in the Firth of Clyde and the west and north-west coast of mainland Scotland but there are others including Orkney, Edinburgh and the Moray Firth, so there are plenty of options to choose from. A wide variety of sailing yachts can be hired for bareboat, skippered and corporate charters, these typically range from 30 to 45ft, usually with three or four cabins. They typically are capable of accommodating groups of between six and 10 crew members. These include new or nearly new vessels from most of the major European manufacturers as well as some more mature boats.
